One "at call" hard waste collection is offered to each residence per financial year.  This free service is provided by Orana Inc on behalf of the Rural City of Murray Bridge  ...  or households can request a "tip pass" to take one 6x4 trailer load of waste direct to the Brinkley Transfer Station.

This service is for HOUSEHOLD Hard Waste only and is available to residents that currently receive a kerbside waste, recycling and green waste organic collection service.

No commercial, business or industrial waste is accepted.


Bookings are essential

  • Please contact Orana to make a booking and allow at least 2 weeks notice  ...  8375 2060
  • You will receive communication to confirm your booking date, unique booking reference and permitted items

Conditions apply

  • Only place permitted items out for collection
  • Items that are too heavy for two people to lift (>50kg) cannot be accepted
  • Only place your items on the kerbside after 6pm the night before your confirmed date of collection and ensure it is ready for collection by 8am on the day of collection
  • You are entitled to book one free collection per household per year

 

ACCEPTED RESIDENTIAL HARD WASTE
Air conditioners
Bikes and toys
Blinds and window coverings
Dismantled clothes line
Electronic waste (eg TV's, computers and anything with a battery or cord)
Floor coverings (up to 2 metre lengths rolled up)
Furniture
Hot water services
Lawn mowers
Mattresses (restrictions apply)
Rainwater tank
Sheets of iron and guttering (bundled and up to 2 metre lengths
Small items of scrap metal - please place in a container (eg cardboard box) for removal
Wire, ropes and hoses (bundled)
Timber off cuts or dismantled pallets (bundled and up to 2 metre lengths)
Larger tree and shrub prunings that do not fit in green organics bin provided (cut into 2 metre
lengths and tied in bundles, max of 30cm diameter) 
White goods - refridgerators and freezers (please remove doors for safety), washing machines and driers

Please note:

  1. maximum volume of 2 cubic metres per residence (2m x 1m x 1m; or approximately 1 car trailer load) of hard waste is permitted to be placed out for collection.
  2. Excessive or unacceptable items (items not listed as acceptable) will not be collected and must be removed from the kerbside by the resident immediately after the designated collection day.

In particular, items that will not be accepted include the following (a form may be left in your letter box like the one below to help you manage the waste we cannot collect):

Car batteries   Can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station
Clothes and shoes   Can be taken to your local charity/secondhand shop if in reasonable condition or disposed
of in the residual waste blue lid bin
Bricks,rocks, dirt, pavers, concrete and building materials   Can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station
Fire Extinguishers   Take to local fire safety shop
Hazardous waste
Liquid waste
Chemical waste
Paint
  Take these to the Dry Creek Depot
Garden waste   You can compost at home (see Zero Waste SA Fact Sheet 2) or place it in the green waste green lid bin for kerbside collection or deliver to the Brinkley Transfer Station
Gas bottles   Gas bottles can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station or use your local service station "Swap n Go" service
General waste   Non recyclable waste needs to be placed in the residual waste blue lid bin
Glass (panels of sheet glass including broken panels)   Can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station - take care of sharp edges
Heavy electrical goods including cables   E waste can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station for resource recovery
Motor Oil   Can be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station
Nappies   Need to be placed in the residual waste blue lid bin
Pharmaceuticals and Medical waste (medicines, syringes, needles etc)   Need to be placed in hazardous waste shaprs containerts - some are provided in public places.  Pharmacies can accept this waste.  You can return old and unwanted medicines to any pharmacy for free and safe disposal.

Plastic film/loose plastic bags   Can be placed in dedicated plastic bins at participating supermarkets (look up http://recyclingnearyou.com.au/bags/Adelaide) or place in the residual waste blue lid bin
Recyclables   Just put loose recyclables in the yellow lid recycling bin - refer What goes in what?
Tyres and car parts    Take these to the Brinkley Transfer Station or your local tyre supplier may accept for a fee 
Vaccuum bag dust and general household dust    Place in your residual blue lid waste bin 
Other (e.g. items too heavy)    Items over 50kg must be taken to the Brinkley Transfer Station
